Someone once told me that to stay young at heart, one needs to nurture their curiosity. To me, painting and drawing is the act of looking with curiosity. It's a process of discovery. Each work, big or small, explores the complexities of the subject whether through movement and gesture, form and structure, patterns and variations, light and dark, and colour contrasts. Art is a key way to channel my curiosity, by observing and marvelling at the beauty of the subjects before me.
I taught Life Drawing for the 3D Animation Diploma at Humber College in Toronto until the birth of my son. Since then, I've been a full-time mom, part-time artist. And always observing. As my son grows up, I gradually have more time to spend on art.
I am now living in Ottawa. My husband, Robert Rival, is a concert music composer.
